ArtsSmarts is the largest education initiative in Canada dedicated to improving the lives and learning capacity of Canadian children by injecting arts into academic programs. The importance of engaging young people in artistic activity is critical to their evolution as creative thinkers. It is they who will soon be leading Canada's growth in terms of cultural, social and economic development.

In this province, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and NSCAD University are the partners for ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia. With the generous support of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, the Department of Tourism, Culture & Heritage, the Department of Education, and the Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs, funding is made available to schools to support innovative arts-based learning.
